They have always enjoyed any avenue of artistic endeavor that was available. Their decision to make art a livelihood was made when they moved to the Sangre de Christo Mountains, north of a little town called Cotopaxi. There they built their home and raised their two children and developed Earth Gems Wildwood Works. Over the 22 years that they have lived in the area, their love of nature and the mountains has culminated in a great admiration and respect for the forests and the ancient and beautiful woods that have become their gathering areas. Both believe that their work reflects a partnership of wood and spirit and have learned that one must listen to nature with more than our ears. Through exhibiting their inspired works they hope to share the voice of forest life that would now whisper to souls to recall the heart of nature and its subtle beauty everyday. Karina and Thomas currently do art shows around Colorado, New Mexico and the surrounding area. They continue to win awards for sculpture and woodworking over the 20 successful years in the art business. “Forest Folk” Forest Folk are funny looking creatures actually belonging to the fairy family. These “folks” live to protect and maintain the forests they reside in. They are a blessing for any home and are sure to enlighten and delight all those they come into contact with. We gather these special creatures by walking through the forest and asking for volunteers—we say volunteers because they must be willing to come into the world of humans to remind and educate each of the people that they come to live with. It must be their desire to revive the idea of nature’s harmony on earth and call us back to our own place in that harmony. Their great patience and wisdom must help to direct the open hearted to listen to “mother” and reconnect to her greater idea of wholeness.
