ABOUT BARBARA GOODWIN...

Barbara Goodwin was born in Ada, Oklahoma in 1937. From an age so early she cannot remember, she was drawing and painting—even going so far as to painting with her mother’s food coloring. As a child in elementary school Barbara’s favorite teacher was her art teacher, Miss Ledford. Barbara regularly won awards at the Ada Public Library Art Shows. She believes her talent to be a gift from God and strives to give Him the glory with each piece she produces.

In 1956 Barbara married her husband Donald and together they raised their family of five children. During those years Barbara physically put aside her drawing and painting, although mentally she continued with a fervor. In 1977 Barbara was introduced to China Painting, a delicately painstaking procedure of painting china platters and plates, and very small china pieces for jewelry. Her teacher Charlotte Dyson taught her a new appreciation of nature, and started her on a joyous journey of painting until she meets her Lord.

Barbara has studied with Becky Johnson, Dottie White, Tom Dooley, Chuck Mardosz and Barbara Bartel. During the years of classes she was able to also take workshops with noted artists Tom Dooley, Tom Browning, Robert Kuester and Dan Beck. Each teacher has contributed tremendously to her basic knowledge of art and has fed her desire to learn more.

Barbara is represented at El Dorado Gallery in Colorado Springs, has also sold successfully at The Glenwood Springs Art Show in Colorado for the past few years, and has won ribbons in various art shows. More and more she leans toward portrait and wildlife painting, and has an incurable addiction for painting miniatures. Anyone receiving one of Barbara’s paintings by purchase or as a gift is receiving a part of the joy and love she puts into each painting. And the joy and love keep growing.
